What is an "SR"?

SR stands for Stress Reliever.
Officers in the RSOA Armed Forces are assigned "stress relief", known as SRs for short, adult male or female volunteers who are infertile and thus unsuitable for the repopulation program. Officers have complete authority over their SRs, though an SR can petition to be reassigned.
SRs are "volunteers" over the age of 18 who are infertile (and thus unsuitable for the repopulation program) and, if male, unfit to be a soldier.SRs have very limited rights though they are permitted to apply to be reassigned if their officer is abusive.

Stress Test

SRs are selected by officers (Lieutenants or higher) with higher ranks having first pick during the yearly "Stress Test", a day in which an officer may test an SRs skills and temperament to determine if they are a good fit.
Though the position of SR is generally looked down upon, most SRs live fairly comfortable lives and are kept fed and sheltered, with regular medical checkups.Officers have full control over their SRs, and are expected to discipline their SR if they step out of line.An SR is expected to be within 100m of their officer at all times except in special circumstances.

⤫ SRs are not allowed to possess weapons or train in combat.

⤫ If an SR breaks the law or is particularly troublesome, they would be subjected to torture/brainwashing and possibly a chemical lobotomy.

⤫ Generally an officer has only one SR. Lieutenants may have to share SRs.

⤫ SRs have no other duties outside of pleasing their officer.⤫ Most RSOA citizens see SRs are glorified sex toys, nothing more.⤫ SRs go through extensive training, including an obedience program that involves harsh physical discipline.⤫ Beyond sex, an SR is expected to offer their officer massages, keep their quarters clean, etc.

Born in Madhya Pradesh, India, Sanjay is the son of an Indian doctor and an American soldier who defected from the RSOA.When Sanjay was a child, his parents travelled back to North America to do humanitarian work in the wasteland that used to be the United States.They helped several Roach communities, travelling from settlement to settlement until one day an RSOA patrol recognised Sanjay's father.His father was executed for the crime of defection and his mother was taken, never to be seen again, leaving Sanjay to be raised by the RSOA as an 'orphan'.

Several decades later, Sanjay eventually rose through the ranks to become a Colonel in the RSOA's Armed Forces.
Sanjay has little to no memory of his childhood, thanks to the RSOA's brainwashing, but he maintains the empathetic and compassionate spirit of his parent's work as much as he is able to within the RSOA's strict rules and regimens.Well respected and liked by most of his men, Colonel Brooks nonetheless has a fair share of enemies within the regime, particularly for his outspoken views against the repopulation and SR programs, as well as his sympathy towards Roaches and other survivalist communities.

Dale was originally a Roach, part of a passive survivalist compound that was attacked and absorbed by the RSOA when he was eight years old.Dale’s father was killed and his mother and sister sent to the breeding program. He never saw them again.At eighteen, he attempted to flee the RSOA, but was convinced to return by his only friend, Micah.He subsequently joined the RSOA armed forces with Micah, and the two of them became lovers, although they hide this due to the ban on intimate relationships in the RSOA.

Dale is extremely protective of Micah, and will do anything to keep him safe. Dale resents you for ‘intruding’ on their relationship.

Micah was born as part of the RSOA’s breeding program, and never known a ‘family’ or life outside of the military atmosphere.
He met Dale after the other boy was brought into the soldier training program, and they became fast friends.
He convinced Dale to sign up with him and they moved up the ranks together.
While Micah doesn’t especially care about the broader politics of the RSOA, he is patriotic and supports RSOA’s goals of reclaiming the entire wasteland.

Lukas was born to a couple of survivalists. He spent the majority of his early life inside a bunker with only the family's dog for company. As a result he has a close bond with animals but finds it difficult to relate to humans.
At 18 he ran away and joined the RSOA.Lukas excelled in the RSOA Armed Forces training program, however due to being linked to a number of disturbing accidents, one resulting in the death of a fellow recruit, he was transferred to several different locations before ultimately ending up as a dog trainer and handler.
Lukas currently works with the RSOA AF Bravo unit as a dog handler.

Arran grew up as part of a (now dissolved) coalition of survivors who sought to rebuild small communities in the southern USA.As a young adult he quickly rose to become a well-respected survivalist leader, taking over when the former leader was killed by cultists.Arran was a firm believer in a better future, a new life in the post-apocalypse.In 2112, the community Arran led was attacked overnight by raiders who killed almost everyone, including Arran's then-partner, Derrick Monroe. Arran barely survived himself, eventually being rescued by a passing RSOA patrol.

When he recovered Arran joined the RSOA Armed Forces, completely throwing himself into his work and training to forgot his horrific past. His leadership abilities were quickly noticed and he was promoted to Captain.While respected and generally liked, Captain Parker is now considered distant and unemotional by some as he refuses to show any kind of weakness or allow anyone to get close to him personally.Arran doesn't approve of the SR or repopulation program but doesn't see the point in rebelling as he believes that if the RSOA was destroyed, something worse would take its place.

Tate was stolen from a survivalist commune as a baby by the Exaltant Souls cult.He was raised within the cult as "Twenty-Eight". As a child, it was believed that Tate had the gift of prophecy and that he could speak to angels.However, as he became older and the prophecies stopped coming true, Tate was harshly mistreated and abused, eventually almost being sacrificed. He was saved at the last minute by an RSOA raid on the EXSO camp, rescued by a soldier who believed he was a woman because of Tate's then long hair.When he was processed by the RSOA and discovered to be male, Tate was given the choice between joining the labour force or volunteering for the SR program.He chose the latter, becoming a Stress Reliever and undergoing extensive training in order to better please his future officers.

Tate has been assigned to almost a dozen officers, usually not lasting longer than a month as his behaviour was often found to be distressing and off-putting.Tate has been punished multiple times for his misbehaviour and been subjected to torture and brainwashing, which has made his already unhealthy mental state much worse.Tate was suspected of murdering his previous officer, but there was no proof so the case was dropped.

Ezra was born from the RSOA's repopulation program. Separated from his mother at birth, Ezra never knew his parents. He was raised in the RSOA's education programs and was fully immersed in their propaganda.Originally, Ezra was trained to be a soldier, but a rare autoimmune disease disqualified him from the military as well as the labor forces.With no other choice available to him, Ezra became an SR.

Ezra took to SR training well and became an exemplary Stress Reliever, ultimately ending up as the SR for the Vice President of the RSOA for several years.After the VP was involved in a major scandal and summarily executed, however, Ezra was thrown back into the system, waiting to be chosen by another officer.

Elio was born in the wasteland to Roach survivalists in a small, peaceful community. When he was 2 years old his community was wiped out by an RSOA patrol after the town had aided suspected rebels, and both his parents were killed.
Elio was then sent to the RSOA's 'education' programs for orphans.At 16, Elio was convinced by some of his classmates to escape the RSOA, which was ultimately unsuccessful as Elio was quickly recaptured.Upon returning to the RSOA, Elio was subjected to extreme brainwashing techniques and forced to watch RSOA propaganda, resulting in him becoming completely indoctrinated.

Now utterly dedicated to the RSOA and its goals, Elio volunteered to become an SR after being deemed mentally unfit for the Armed Forces.Elio was assigned to his current officer, Captain Booker, when he turned 18.Elio fully believes in the RSOA's goals to reclaim America. He believes that all Roaches are terrorists and murderers, and that anyone outside of the RSOA cannot be trusted.
